Adopt Audrey!

Posted July 15th, 2008 by molulu - 1 Comment »

Adopt Audrey!
Audrey, a 22-month-old spayed hound/German shepherd mix, is a relaxed, happy dog who needs a family who likes to play. Audrey gets along with dogs who are not too rambunctious. She loves toys and will benefit from structure and consistency in her new home.

The Atlanta Humane Society recommends crate training for this dog, and its behavior department can help with this. Audrey knows some commands and should not be difficult to train. Hounds, with their stable temperaments, tend to make great family dogs once they get the leadership and companionship they need. Audrey has had her DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. She will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meet some of Audrey’s friends who also need a forever home. Or check out the cute pets available for adoption at Clayton County’s Animal Shelter. Also, consider adopting from an Animal Control location near you.

Adopt Vegas

Posted July 8th, 2008 by molulu - 4 Comments »

Adopt Vegas Vegas, a 7-month-old German shepherd/hound mix, has been with the Atlanta Humane Society for many months, and we’re not sure why. Like all adolescent dogs, Vegas is active and needs structure and exercise to be at his best. He is an affectionate guy and likes to play with toys. He knows a few commands but wants to learn many more.

German shepherds are intelligent, focused dogs who bond closely to their families when they have consistent, clear leadership. Hounds generally are laid-back and friendly. Vegas is still a puppy, so he will need house training and obedience training in his new home, but he’s smart, so he shouldn’t be hard to train. We can help you with both.

Come see if this guy is right for you. Vegas has had his DHLPP shots and has been dewormed. He will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W., Atlanta. The humane society is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. Adoptions are first-come, first-served. Also, meet some of Vegas’ friends who also need a forever home. Or check out the cute pets available for adoption at Clayton County’s Animal Shelter.

Adopt Kohl!

Posted June 20th, 2008 by molulu - No Comments »

Adopt Kohl! Kohl, a 2-and-a-half-year-old neutered flat-coat retriever mix, is a bit shy at first, but will warm up if you give him some time. Kohl is a friendly dog who will do best in a home with someone who can give him the calm attention he enjoys.

He already knows the commands to fetch and sit. He has played with other dogs and is fine with them, but he prefers calm dogs. He is a nice medium size, and should not be difficult to train. We do not know how his house manners are, so we suggest crating and supervision until he is comfortable in his new home.

All newly adopted dogs need time to adjust to your home, so keep their environment small until they get settled in. Come see if this jet-black dog with very expressive ears is right for you.

Kohl has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The humane society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekends. Meet a few of Kohl’s friends who also need a forever home. Or check out the cute pets available for adoption at Clayton County’s Animal Shelter.

Adopt Cooper!

Posted June 13th, 2008 by molulu - 1 Comment »

Adopt Cooper Cooper, a 7-month-old neutered Labrador/terrier mix, is an active medium-size pup. He will probably be a medium-size dog when full grown, so Cooper could be a good fit for someone who doesn’t want a large dog.

He is fun-loving and will need a family that is active and will keep him involved in their lives. Terriers can be overstimulated by lots of activity, so Cooper may be best in a family with older kids. He does enjoy playing with other dogs, so he might also make a good playmate for your existing dog.

Cooper has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The humane society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

Buddie, a 7-month-old neutered mastiff/pit bull mix, is an active, intelligent dog. He knows a few commands and will do best in a family where he will get plenty of exercise and stimulation.

Buddie is still a puppy, and he will need proper confinement, structure, obedience training and guidance. He enjoys being petted and playing with toys, and he likes to play with dogs his size. He’s also a beautiful brindle color, so he cuts a striking figure when you take him out.

Buddie would do best in a family where he can go along for the ride and not be stuck in a yard all day. Buddie has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be available today at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The Altanta Humane Society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

Meet Jack!

Meet Jack! Jack, a 9-month-old neutered Labrador retriever mix, is an energetic young dog who will need a gentle but firm owner who is willing to take the time to train him. He is a bit shy at first, but warms up when given the chance.

He would do best in a home without children under 12. Jack will need some time to adjust, and structure, crate training, and routine will be very helpful to him.

He knows a few commands, but will need leash training and other obedience to be at his best. He is not going to be very large when full-grown, and he enjoys playing with other dogs. He’s also a beautiful gunmetal gray color that will turn heads.

Jack has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be available today at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The humane society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. weekends.

Kaylor, a 1 1/2-year-old neutered Labrador/basset hound mix, is a short, active dog who likes to run and play. Kaylor knows several commands and will do best in a family where he will get plenty of exercise and stimulation.

Though he isn’t large, Kaylor is a strong dog and will need guidance and structure. We don’t know if he has lived with children, but he enjoys playing with other dogs and running in a fenced yard. He is still a puppy in some ways, and needs to be taught house manners. Our behavior department can help with this.

Kaylor enjoys affection, but he isn’t too clingy. He has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The humane society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

Meet Ross!

Posted May 15th, 2008 by molulu - No Comments »

Meet Ross Ross, an 8-month-old neutered Lab mix, is a fun guy who loves to play. He knows a few commands, and enjoys rough-and-tumble games with other active dogs, so he could be a first or second dog.

He also likes to play with toys, and would love to learn to fetch. Ross is a youngster, so he will need structure and guidance, but he can learn quickly with a patient owner. Labs are generally gregarious, hardy, and fun-loving companions who want to “go and do” with you.

Black dogs don’t get adopted as often as other dogs, which may be why Ross is still here. But he is a good-looking, intelligent fellow who will be your best pal. Come visit Ross and see if he is right for you. Ross has had his DHLPP vaccinations and has been dewormed. He will be at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Adoption will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The Atlanta Humane Society is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekends.
